Presentation Instructions:

Instructions for IBNS 2018 Poster Presentations

  • Poster Board size (usable area): Width 8 feet x Height 4 feet. The boards are wide. 
  • Posters will need to be attached with push pins.  
  • Poster sessions will be held in the Camino Hall.  Please plan to display your poster during the lunch break 11:30-13:30 (11:30-1:30 pm) or afternoon break 15:30-16:00 (3:30-4:00 pm) on the day of your poster session.  All posters should be displayed no later than 16:00 (4:00 pm).
  • Poster presentation time is from 18:30-20:30 (6:30-8:30 pm) on Friday and Saturday.  Please check your presentation date and poster number on the final program.
  • Poster presenters are required to be present in front of their poster during the poster session.
  • Please remove your poster promptly at 8:30 p.m. Posters left behind will be discarded.

Instructions for IBNS 2018 Oral Presentations

  • Plenary/Keynote Speaker: 60 minutes (50 min for your presentation, 10 min for Q&A)
  • Symposium Speaker: 30 minutes (25 min for your presentation, 5 min for Q&A)  Note:  Some symposia have more/less speakers and the time has been adjusted accordingly.  See program for exact times.
  • Oral Sessions:  15 minutes (10 min for your presentation; 5 min for Q&A)
  • Travel Award Blitz:  4 minutes (3 min for your presentation; 1 min for Q&A)  Note:  A three slide maximum is recommended. Your final slide should contain your poster title and numerical location so that additional questions and discussion can take place during the poster session. 

Data Submission  

  • Oral presentations should be presented by PC and Projector only.
  • Please submit your presentation on a flash drive (USB) to the Chairperson of your session during the lunch break from 12:00 – 1:30 in the room where your presentation takes place.  Your presentation will be pre-loaded to the conference laptop at which time you can review your slides.  Switching laptops between each talk will disrupt the schedule and is strongly discouraged. 
  • For Mac users, please be sure your presentation is compatible with a PC prior to your arrival
  • Please arrive at least 20 min prior to your presentation.
  • It is the duty of the Chairperson to stop a speaker who is going over his/her time limit. This is necessary to keep our very tight schedule on time.

Travel Awards:

IBNS sponsors many Travel Awards for students and postdoctoral candidates, so they may have the opportunity to attend the annual meeting and present their research.  Travel Award applications are available to IBNS student and postdoc members through January 22, 2018 at midnight CST.   Click here to access additional information and application form.

Student and Postdoc Travel Awards will be available for the 2018 IBNS Annual Meeting, to be held at the Boca Raton Resort, Boca Raton, Florida, USA, June 27 - July 2, 2018. Undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral students are eligible to apply if they are members of IBNS. (Post-docs must be within 7 years of receiving their Ph.D. and do not have a regular full time position.)  Login/password will be required to submit an application. New to IBNS? Please allow 4-6 business days for your membership application to be approved. Women, minorities, and international members are encouraged to apply.

Travel Award applicants will be judged based on criteria specific to their level of training. In addition, travel costs will be taken into consideration in determining the final amount of the award. Travel Award recipients will be required to present a poster as well as participate in a slide blitz session. Award recipients will be required to attend the entire meeting.

Call for Awards:

Career Achievement Award
Candidate is chosen by the Nominations and Awards Committee for outstanding professional achievement in his/her field. The individual chosen for this award will receive recognition at the IBNS annual meeting, including a plaque, and may be asked to give a short talk.

Early Career Award
Candidate is within seven years of receiving the Ph.D. and a member of the society in good standing. There will be one award worth $500 plus a waiver for the upcoming meeting's registration fees. Further, the winner will receive a 30-minute time slot in the program for award presentation and a short talk. The nomination can be through an IBNS member or via self-nomination.

Please e-mail your nominations to the IBNS Central Office by February 15, 2018.

Call for Abstracts:

IBNS will accept abstracts for presentation (poster or oral) at our annual conference in Boca Raton, FL, USA, June 27 - July 2, 2018.  Abstracts submitted through February 26, 2018, will be considered for posters or oral presentation, while abstracts submitted through March 26, 2018, (midnight CDT) will be considered for posters only.  For abstracts submitted through February 26, a non-refundable abstract fee of $50 is due at the time of submission.  Late abstract (after February 26) fee is $75.00.  Click here for abstract submission form.

  • Abstracts should be no longer than 2,500 characters including spaces
  • Prepare as a single paragraph, single-spaced
  • Abstracts should NOT contain: photos, tables, references
  • Data must be original and not previously published
  • Please include any funding acknowledgements
